Support the Demonstration to Save the Accord Centre

8 Aug

The Accord is a day care facility in the East End of Glasgow that supports more than one hundred and twenty children and adults with severe learning disabilities. It is going to be demolished to make way for a car park for the Commonwealth Games.  Service-users and carers were promised an equivalent centre would be built when the Commonwealth Games were announced.

The carers at the Accord centre – alongside local residents, campaigners and the service users themselves – have launched an inspirational campaign to demand that either the Accord stays open or a like for like replacement is given.

What you can do for the Campaign:

The Save the Accord Campaign has now organised a demonstration to march through the East End on Saturday the 27th of August, assembling at Parkhead Forge (Duke St entrance) at 12 noon. The slogans of the demonstration are: ‘Save the Accord Centre’; ‘Stop the Cuts in Glasgow’ and ‘Unite our Communities Against the Cuts’.
